If you order this online for in-store pickup, it will be available within 1-2 business days.

Anything in stock, not in our store, can be received within 5-7 business days. Let's get that out of the way. If you're reading this to see if it's easy to make a polymer 80 Glock, let me answer you now. ie. It is very easy to do and I believe anyone can do it. Polymer 80 Glocks are very easy to make and the one I'm reviewing was made with an 80 bottom jig, a Dremel, and a hand drill. Took a few hours, got some sand, but now it works like a champ. If you're outside, take a shower and go for it.

Now that we've gotten some of the guards out of the way, let's talk about the Polymer 80 Glock and give it a quick review. The PF940V2 is a full-size model that uses a Glock 17, 22, 34, 24, 35, 31 or 17L slide. Most of us will probably build a Glock 17 or 34. I use 17.

The Polymer 80 Glock uses Gen 3 parts that are common and easy to find. I use a Glock 17 slide with a Larry Vickers special edition Bear Creek Arsenal barrel as well as an OEM Glock lower kit. The Glock kit includes an extended magazine well and slide lock.

Review: Polymer80 Pf940c

I found the Poly 80 frame to be superior to the OEM Glock frame in many ways. It doesn't have fingerprints, which is great. The 1911 uses a 19 degree grip angle versus the Glock's 22 degree grip angle, which is more comfortable and natural to me. The rails are true Picatinny rails as opposed to Glock's eccentric rail system. There is also a grip on the rear of the gun, which you don't get with the OEM Glock frame. The PF940V2 is basically an American Glock.

As you know, America does it better. All of these lower frame changes make the Glock more ergonomic and easier to handle. The overall angle of the Polymer80 is better for me, but that's subjective. It feels more natural, but if you've been behind a Glock for years, it might seem strange to you.

One thing I love about Glock's Polymer80 is the added grip. The slide bite has been a problem with Glocks. If I kept the gun well and hid the slide, it would bite me every time and eventually break the skin. The Polymer 80 frame does not provide the same slide bite. The extra bite protects you from it, and also gives you more options to fight the rise of the mouth.

You won't notice much of a difference in accuracy with the Polymer 80 once you get the gun running reliably. Frames rarely affect accuracy. Shooting the gun is more convenient and easier to control. I think the Polymer 80 has answered most of the criticisms Glock has received. The Glock even survived the fingerprinting of the last generation of Glock pistols.

The downside of using a non-standard frame is the aftermarket. You lose compatibility with many different holsters as well as different frame accessories. It will fit as wide as some inline motors. However, accessories such as magwells are no longer suitable.

Another drawback is reliability. You have to ask yourself, do you believe in your abilities as a gunsmith? I'm not like that myself. I would not use my Polymer80 Glock as a defensive weapon. I have never had any reliability issues, and I prefer OEM Glock pistols for defensive use. The good news is that you can buy a complete Poly 80 frame, but that will require FFL transfers on top of the parts needed to assemble the gun.

The Polymer80 Glock is a fun project that allows you to make your own gun. For me it's just a project. For some, it may be the easiest legal way to acquire a firearm. Because different state laws make it difficult to buy a gun, building your own may be your only option. If you're under 21, you can't buy a gun from a gun store, but there's no federal law that prevents you from making your own. Be sure to check your state's laws.
